Lunch Date’s journey began when director, Donnie Ray Banks, first created his script in a Full Sail University screenwriting class. He wanted to create something fun and refreshing, and something that people could relate to. Over the next few months, producer Kamry Bell worked to build a strong crew, and she also found a location in Maitland, FL. The location was in close proximity to Full Sail and matched the director’s vision for the project.
Casting occurred on two different occasions during February and March 2017 at Full Sail University. After several impressive auditions and call-backs, Jose E. Garza, Hedy Nasser, Aaron Sherry, and Carmen Fitzgerald were selected to be in the romantic comedy. The director worked alongside the director of photography, Yu-Ting Tung, to create a detailed shot list and to further establish the vision for Lunch Date.

In April filming began for Lunch Date, as the crew of over 50 people arrived at the office space in Maitland, FL. On the first day the crew faced a challenge when the set-up process lasted longer than expected. This problem conflicted with the detailed shot list that the director had established. After meeting, the entire Lunch Date team worked together to create a plan that would allow the crew to capture the shots that they needed.
During post-production Lauren Gurr edited the film, and Brandon Rufer served as the composer. Justin Montanez and Tyler McKenzie edited the visual effects for the film.
